BOOK-GUIDED ORIGINAL SSC MATHS PRACTICE — Plane Mensuration

FOUNDATION

Rectangle area = length × breadth.

METHOD

Identify the quantities given, choose the exact relationship, calculate in the same unit, then check the answer against the question.

WORKED EXAMPLE 1

Area of a rectangle of length 65 cm and width 33 cm (cm²)?

Area = length×width = 65×33=2145 cm².

WORKED EXAMPLE 2

Area of a rectangle of length 43 cm and width 33 cm (cm²)?

Area = length×width = 43×33=1419 cm².

IMPORTANT EXCEPTION / COMMON TRAP

Area units are squared; perimeter units are linear.

QUICK REVISION
