सार

एक शब्द प्रतिस्थापन वर्णनात्मक वाक्यांश को एक सटीक शब्द से बदलता है, जो प्रायः लैटिन या ग्रीक मूलों से बना होता है।

मुख्य बिंदु

-cide = हत्या (homicide, pesticide); -logy = अध्ययन (biology); -phobia = भय (hydrophobia)।
Aviary (पक्षी), apiary (मधुमक्खियाँ), aquarium (मछलियाँ), granary (अनाज), arsenal (हथियार)।
Polyglot (अनेक भाषाएँ), bilingual (दो भाषाएँ), illiterate (पढ़-लिख न सकने वाला)।
Omnipotent (सर्वशक्तिमान), omniscient (सर्वज्ञ), omnipresent (सर्वव्यापी)।
Autobiography (स्वयं लिखा जीवन), biography (दूसरे द्वारा लिखा)।

व्याख्या

एक-एक शब्द के बजाय मूल-परिवार सीखें।
मिलते-जुलते विकल्प प्रायः एक मूल में भिन्न होते हैं।
पूरा वाक्यांश पढ़ें: "a person who cannot be corrected" = incorrigible (जिसे सुधारा न जा सके)।
आवश्यक शब्द-भेद जाँचें।
