सार

स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव, समावेशी प्रतिनिधित्व और स्वच्छ राजनीतिक वित्त भारतीय लोकतंत्र की नींव हैं।

मुख्य बिंदु

लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम 1950 मतदाता सूचियों से और 1951 का अधिनियम चुनाव संचालन, अयोग्यता और अपराधों से संबंधित है।
आदर्श आचार संहिता कोई क़ानून नहीं है, पर निर्वाचन आयोग इसे लागू करता है।
सीटों का परिसीमन 2026 के बाद की पहली जनगणना तक रोका गया है (84वाँ संशोधन, 2001)।
NOTA PUCL (2013) के बाद आया; लिली थॉमस (2013) से दो वर्ष या अधिक की सज़ा पाए विधायकों की तत्काल अयोग्यता हुई।
चुनावी बॉन्ड योजना को सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने फ़रवरी 2024 में रद्द कर दिया।
इंद्रजीत गुप्ता समिति (1998) ने चुनावों के आंशिक राजकीय वित्तपोषण की सिफ़ारिश की।

व्याख्या

VVPAT से EVM पर मतदाताओं का भरोसा बढ़ता है।
एक साथ चुनाव ("एक राष्ट्र, एक चुनाव") पर बहस चल रही है।
लोकसभा और विधानसभाओं में महिला आरक्षण 2023 में बना (परिसीमन के बाद लागू होगा)।
धन और बाहुबल अब भी चुनौतियाँ हैं।
दलों के भीतर लोकतंत्र कमज़ोर है।
