क्लोज़ टेस्ट रिक्त स्थानों वाला गद्यांश है; हर उत्तर को अपने वाक्य के व्याकरण और पूरे गद्यांश के अर्थ, दोनों में बैठना चाहिए।

मुख्य बिंदु

विषय समझने के लिए पहले रिक्त स्थान भरे बिना गद्यांश पढ़ें।
रिक्त स्थान के आसपास का व्याकरण आवश्यक शब्द-भेद तय करता है।
सहप्रयोग (collocation) जाँचें: "pay attention", "make a decision", "take a step"।
संयोजक तर्क पर निर्भर करते हैं: विरोध (however), परिणाम (therefore), जोड़ (moreover)।
भरने के बाद पूरा गद्यांश दोबारा पढ़ें।

व्याख्या

जब दो शब्द व्याकरण में बैठें, तो गद्यांश के लहजे से मेल खाने वाला चुनें।
रिक्त स्थानों में प्रीपोज़िशन प्रायः निश्चित प्रयोग के अनुसार होते हैं।
गद्यांश का अर्थ बदलने वाले शब्दों से बचें।
पहले आसान रिक्त स्थान भरें; वे कठिन स्थानों के लिए संदर्भ देते हैं।

शब्द-भेद तय करें।
अर्थ और सहप्रयोग से चुनें।

उदाहरण

"The minister _____ a decision after long talks." → "made" (make a decision — सहप्रयोग)।
"Prices rose sharply; _____, demand fell." → "therefore" (परिणाम)।
"She was _____ in music from childhood." → "interested" (interested in — निश्चित युग्म)।

सामान्य भूल: केवल व्याकरण के आधार पर चुनना और अर्थ की अनदेखी।
